I'm Back! :D
Ah basta I'm back

Fear of Failure
Half of the failures in life come from pulling one's horse when he is leaping.
Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.
Every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent success.
Failure is blindness to the strategic element in events; success is readiness for instant action when the opportune moment arrives.
They fail, and they alone, who have not striven.
We learn wisdom from failure much more than success. We often discover what we will do, by finding out what we will not do.

Different ballgame of commitment

By the time you open this, you’ll be moments away from walking down the aisle. I will say a prayer for you that you may find meaning in what you’re about to do.
Sometimes I wonder why we ever met. Is it only for me to find fleeting happiness but experience eternal pain? Is it only for us to find a true love but then lose it again? Or is it because there’s a bigger plan for the two of us?
I hope that you have experienced true happiness with me. I have done everything humanly possible to love you. And today, as you make your vows . . . I make my own vow to YOU!
I will love you for the rest of my life. I loved you from the first time I laid eyes on you, to the time we spent together, up to the final moments of your single life. But more importantly, I will love you until the life in me is gone and until we are together again.
Do not worry about me! I will be happy for you. I have enough memories of us to last me a lifetime. Always remember though that in my heart, in my mind and in my soul, YOU WILL ALWAYS
. . . AND THE WONDERFUL THINGS YOU DO!
BE MINE . . . . AND MINE ALONE, and I WILL ALWAYS BE YOURS AND YOURS ALONE!
I LOVE YOU FOREVER, I LOVE YOU FOR ALWAYS. AS LONG AS I’M LIVING MY TWEETIE YOU’LL BE!”
Eternally yours,
YYY

The UAAP Cheerdance Competition: From Samurais to Sarimanoks
The Far Eastern University (FEU) Cheering Squad won first prize at the UAAP Cheerdance Competition on Sept. 13, but we have to admit, we watched the show for more than the props and pyramids. Which team had the best costume?
SPOT.ph asked 100 people to rank the eight teams. The results:
The NU Pep Squad played safe with blue and yellow skirts for the girls and pants for the guys. The girls’ teased hair in ponytails was probably the only interesting detail. They played safe with their routine too, but at least it was clean; we feel like NU and Adamson could’ve taken a page from each other’s books in terms of coordination and costume eccentricity.
7. The Adamson Pep Squad
The Adamson Pep Squad went for a samurai look with blue-and-white kimono-inspired uniforms and kabuki makeup. Though their routine fell short of earning them a place in the top three, we liked the part where their sleeves were pulled away to reveal a wing-like pattern, and the white fans were a nice touch.
6. The UE Pep Squad!
The UE Pep Squad kept it simple with white bodysuits accented with red sunrays. Their music stayed homegrown with OPM songs like “Bandila” and “Pumapatak Na Naman Ang Ulan,” but we’re not quite sure if the decision to include Filipiniana dance steps in their routine, complete with tied-up skirts and umbrellas, worked to their advantage.
5. The De Lasalle pep squad
The Animo Squad used a harlequin theme this year with masks, double-breasted jackets and swords. The masks were a nice touch, though worn all too briefly. The diamond-patterned tights had an unfortunate resemblance to Lastikman’s pants, and we wonder if the black jackets were comfortable and flexible enough for a cheerdance routine.
4. The FEU Cheering Squad
The FEU Cheering Squad wore body suits with sleek yellow, green, black and gold lines and later added huge colorful feathers to their ensemble, inspired by the UAAP’s logo, the sarimanok. Taking the theme further, their routine included a lot of acrobatic stunts and bird-like movements—though it made us wonder if they changed their school mascot from a tamaraw to a bird.
The Blue Babbles, who bagged the second prize after placing fourth for the past two years, kept to their Broadway-inspired routine with tulle skirts paired with long-sleeved white and blue backless tops. They later added white fedoras when they paid tribute to the late Michael Jackson with a pyramid moonwalk.
2. The UP pep squad
The back-to-back champions’ inspiration was the woven maroon, green and yellow Sablay, the sash-like band of cloth that is the UP equivalent of a toga. Aside from draping the Sablay on their shoulders, which they later tied around their heads warrior-style to bare the iska lettering on their tops, their checkered skirts were also inspired by the Sablay. Unfortunately, the white, knee-high socks made them look like they were wearing Scottish kilts.
1. The Salinggawi Dance Troupe!
Last year’s second placers and former three-peat champions channeled a gladiator vibe this year, matching their determination to bring the crown back to España. The Salinggawi Dance Troupe had a strong routine filled with unique stunts including a moving pyramid, but it wasn’t enough to get them a top three slot.

Make your own way
If you set out to live someone else's dream, you'll end up frustrated and disappointed. For you have your own special purpose, a purpose that would be deeply painful to deny.
That purpose is eager to face the greatest challenges and to grow intensely more meaningful in the process. Your purpose has a whole wonderful set of achievements that will bring great fulfillment to your life.
No one, no matter how generous or well-intentioned, can give you everything you seek. For much of what you seek is to make your own way in life.
No pleasure can compare to the pleasures you earn through your own efforts. No reward can equal the reward of creating your own achievements.
Make the commitment, make the effort, and make your own beautiful way in life.

Tigresses blast Lady Stags, capture crown
What was expected to be a closely-fought sudden death match turned out to be a cruise for Univ. of Santo Tomas as it swept San Sebastian College for the second straight time, 25-18, 25-20, 25-22, to rule the sixth Shakey’s V-League presented by Cherifer before a packed crowd at The Arena in San Juan.
Everything the Tigresses did right in forcing the rubber match with a straight-set win last Sunday, they did again today, plus more, as the España-based squad reasserted its might on the net, held SSC’s top scorer to a single-digit output and showed up with a more cohesive unit to clinch the win that mattered most.
MVP Mary Jean Balse lived up to her billing by leading UST’s charge with 18 hits while Aiza Maizo came through with 14 points as the Tigresses avenged their loss to the Lady Stags in last year’s second conference finals.
More importantly, the victory made UST the winningest team in the league, sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and Cherifer, with four championships, leaving behind La Salle with three.
Bualee, the league’s top scorer with a 17-hit norm in the final, was held to just eight points, her conference-low, leaving the brunt of scoring to Laurence Ann Latigay, Suzanne Roces and Analyn Benito.
But the troika had no answer to UST’s firepower with Maika Ortiz, Bernice Co and Michelle Carolino combining for 24 points and Rhea Dimaculangan, the league’s top setter, coming up big with four blocks for a six-point performance.
The Lady Stags tried to extend the match as it fought back to within, 22-23, in the third on a Latigay hit but Maizo countered with her own on another superb set-up by Dimaculangan before Maizo blocked Benito’s attack to clinch the set, the match and the crown.
“We offer this victory to coach August Sta. Maria, ” said UST mentor Cesael delos Santos. “It’s a nice feeling to win for the first time. At least we got back at the Lady Stags after we lost to them last year.”
Sta. Maria steered UST to its first three titles in the league, organized by Sports Vision and backed by Accel, Mikasa, Mighty Bond and OraCare, the last in 2007 before he suffered a stroke in March last year.
Our Game 2 win was a big boost to my players’ confidence. They gave their 100 percent,” said delos Santos.
San Sebastian took the opener of the best-of-three title series, 25-17, 25-22, 25-19, last Thursday but UST evened things up with a similar straight-set 25-21, 25-22, 25-23 win last Sunday, setting the stage for what observers had predicted to be a no-holds-barred contest between the league’s top teams.
But UST had other things in mind.
Scoring on quick plays from superb set-ups by Dimaculangan, the Tigresses seized control early and had an answer for each San Sebastian comeback.
The Tigresses, with Ortiz on the attack, cashed in on the Lady Stags poor reception in the first set to build a 14-7 lead. Although they sputtered in the next stretch that enabled SSC to close in at 17-19, the Tigresses picked up four straight points to take the opener.
Balse then took over in the second, scoring on her power game as UST quickly erased a 2-5 deficit to surge ahead at 17-12.
But Roces stepped up and worked with Bualee on the attack as SSC forced a 20-all count. But the Tigresses simply shrugged off the threat and re-imposed their strength and will to win the next five points capped by Co’s service ace.
It was the fifth time in four years that Bualee had failed to steer SSC tot he championship, missing the team’s title romp last year.
