How to Address Your Friend's Issues Without Hurting Their Feelings

1. First address the problem...

2. Start with saying, " I think we need to talk" or "I don't want to sound rude but, there is something that you have been doing that has been bothering me lately. "

3. Be clear and specific with you're issue. For example: If you're friend has been cheating on other guys and kissing guys behind their back, instead of saying "You are being un-true to you're boyfriends" try saying " Why are you cheating on you're boyfriends? You are being un-fair...."
State what you would like to happen like "pick one guy fo goodness sake!!!"

4. Remember, You can't always get your own way.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. I'm not sure who the first person was who said that. Probably Shakespeare, or maybe Sting. But at the moment, it's the sentence that best explains my tragic flaw: my inability to change.

I don't think I'm alone in this. The more I get to know other people, the more I realize it's kind of everyone's flaw.

Staying exactly the same for as long as possible, standing perfectly still. It feels better somehow. And if you are suffering, at least the pain is familiar.

Because if you took that leap of faith, went outside the box, did something unexpected...who knows what other pain might be waiting out there? Chances are it could be even worse.

So you maintain the status quo, choose the road already traveled, and it doesn't seem that bad, not as far as flaws go. You're not a drug addict, you're not killing anyone...except maybe yourself a little.

When we finally do change, I don't think it happens like an earthquake or an explosion, where all of a sudden we're like this different person. I think it's smaller than that. The kind of thing most people wouldn't even notice unless they looked really, really close. Which, thank God, they never do.

But you notice it. Inside you, that change feels like a world of difference, and you hope that it is... That this is the person you get to be forever. That you'll never have to change again.

I was writing a thank you speech for a valedictorian who was supposed to read it in front of the whole graduating batch when it struck me. Like pins and needles it poked my beating heart beneath my fragile chest. I feel like vomiting. As if throwing up my excess calories can ever make a difference. I have never been shaken rock hard down to my core. Where do I even begin? Yes, write the speech, I thought. What do I have to thank for? If I were valedictorian, I’d probably thank my dad and my mom. Then I’d include my English teacher who first saw that potential in me. Then I’d thank the sisters of my school, the vincentian fathers, and a whole bunch of nameless bystanders at the corner of our street, who always reminded me in a scary way what will happen to me if I fail in school. There goes that pain again. Then the screaming headache. I pulled out the trash can. Now vomit. More vomit.

This is the second time in a row of the same week that I vomited. Nevertheless it felt good. It’s probably my body’s way of rejecting whatever unneeded baggage I have inside me. Then I remember the pain. Once again I feel like sobbing into tears to let it all out yet again. Ok I’m officially ruining the speech now so I tossed the keyboard and threw the mouse pad out of the way. My brother was out of sight so I had my moment to dry my eyes and breathe shakily at my own shallow expanse. I wish I could just vomit it all out so I can be ok again. I wish I can throw up everything in one go so I can look at the world and see love again. But no, I cannot vomit it out. The least thing I could do is lie down, feel the throbbing sense in my head and vomit what remains of the half-baked pork I had for lunch. From the other end of my bed I saw my phone vibrating, dancing in the tune of a broken record I used to like. I want to ignore it. My head was throbbing like hell. I stared above to see the black brass of my bed suspended above forming a canopy that seemed more like an enclosement of some sort, if ever such a word existed. Then slowly as I close my eyes to feel a somewhat relieving sensation from this mad torture, I thought I was dying. Maybe I was. I was dying from inside and I cannot do anything but vomit the external tangible expellable matters that lies in my inner limbs. How I wish I could vomit the pain as well. See it like a bile substance I can trash along with the other unneeded matters in my room. Why do people come only to say goodbye? Why do we promise forever only to find out that it is not ours to wager? Why do we write letters only to tear them later? Why do we even love only to hurt our lovers? How I wish we could all just vomit the pain. I wish God can hear me now so I can vomit it all out. And get the feeling gone. Then after that I would just like to pass out…

UP as the best performing higher education institution in the country; and UST is the best-performing private university

WITH AGE comes wisdom – and a good academic reputation.

But aside from the the 100-year-old University of the Philippines and the 397-year-old University of Sto. Tomas which have consistently stamped their class as the top two higher education institutions in the country with a rich history of academic excellence, there are also other universities in the far off provinces that deserve a second look as far as performing well in various licensure exams is concerned.

Statistics from Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in 2005 showed that Mariano Marcos State University in Batac, Ilocos Norte was the leading school in Region I, acing seven of 13 licensure exams, the highest of which was the 89-percent passing rate in Electrical Engineering. In all, it registered an average passing rate of 58 percent in 13 examinations that it participated in.

Mindanao State University (MSU)-Iligan Institute of Technology, MSU-General Santos, Bicol University-Legazpi, and MSU-Marawi followed suit with 57, 52, 49, and 47 percent overall passing rates.

Among private institutions, Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro, followed UST, with a batting average of 70 percent in 11 licensure exams. Its board exam result for agricultural engineers was the highest at 86 percent.

The other private universities that registered good ratings were Silliman University, Saint Louis University, Ateneo de Davao University, and Central Philippine University, which had an average passing rate of 66, 65, 62, and 60 percent, respectively.
The common denominator is that these schools have a long tradition of research, faculty development, and educational, rather than commercial pursuits.

Government versus private

The PRC acknowledged UST as the top performer among private schools nationwide, tallying an 80-percent overall passing average and recording 14 high passing rates in 19 licensure exams.
However, UST’s passing rate fell a few notches short to that of state-run UP, with passing rates from eight campuses delivering an 85.3-percent overall passing rate, enough to be hailed as the best performing higher education institution in the country.

Three UP campuses – in Diliman, Los Baños, and in Manila – were also named by PRC as the top three government schools in terms of performance in board exams. The three all posted perfect scores on a number of licensure examinations.

UP students produce good results in licensure examinations because of the demanding academic requirements of the university, UP-Diliman Registrar Pamela Constantino said.
“Because of the usual students’ strenuous academic life in here, they are already being trained to be hardworking people,” Constantino said.

The former Commission on Higher Education (Ched) chairman, UST Rector Fr. Rolando de la Rosa, O.P., noted that the University has maintained its high stature considering the large number of UST examinees every year.

“Usually, UST is the highest in the rank of 100 and above examinees,” De la Rosa said. “For instance, medicine performs well because there are almost 500 examinees and most of them pass.”

In 2005, 456 Thomasians took the licensure examination for physicians and 384 passed, leaving UST with a passing rate of 84 percent. The University also produced 386 professional nurses out of the 411 examinees, with a 94 percent passing rate in the same year.

UST produced a total of 2,409 new professionals that same year, much higher than the 1,979 professionals coming from the three leading UP campuses.

For the first three months of academic year 2008-2009, UST has already produced five top notchers in different licensure exams.

Figures from the PRC showed UST topping board exams in architecture, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, and pharmacy with 68, 98, 84, 98, and 83 percent passing rates, respectively.

But despite the remarkable performance of Thomasians in the board exams, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Clarita Carillo believes “dominating” the exams is not enough.
“We are performing well, but we can always do better,” Carillo told the Varsitarian.

How much do you enjoy your career?

I’m thankful God gave me the career that I really like doing. If I were doing something else, hindi ko kaya. That’s why at work, I always give my 101 percent because feeling ko I’m such a lucky girl. Hindi kasi lahat ng tao may opportunity na maging masaya sa ginagawa nila.

What do you consider your most unforgettable role?

Definitely Impaktita. Kasi hinahati yung katawan ko, nagmo-morph yung mukha ko. Plus, it was my launching movie. Hirap na hirap talaga ako roon. Ilang takes yung mga scenes ko, and I was only 17 then.

I was browsing files from my archive when I accidentally saw this folder that says, "S.E.A.S.O.N.S", and everything flashed back when I saw this picture. I mean.. the teeny bopper photos along with the other memorabilias. I told myself, "Ah sina WINTER, SPRING, SUMMER and AUTUMN"... and I suddenly questioned.. "Kamusta na kaya sila?"

It's been almost a year since we hurriedly posted in front of a camera, and we remained to be the portrait everyone would love to look at.

I don't know what happened; but one thing I am very much sure of... I MISS DOING THINGS LIKE THIS, WITH THEM, A LOT!

Hope that camera that brought the happy memories would still want to capture that one distinct factor we like about us... the "animalistic" appeal behind those "innocent" faces.

I miss those chants!! sad to say..we weren't able to get the basketball championship this season even though our line-up is match with the ATENEO DE MANILA BLUE EAGLES...

but I think it's ok because we did our best to defend our team by playing with passion and chanting gracefully!

VIVA SANTO TOMAS! We are the TIGERS the mighty mighty TIGERS! we came to cheer and to win it with no fear!!...

oh my..i also miss this chant... but sad to say.. we only finished 1st runner up in the last 2008 UAAP cheerdance competition... we were being defeated by our archrival UP pep squad with a smashing and heading us with 8 points!...

but I think its ok because SALINGGAWI DANCE TROUPE is still the best!! ika nga..CENTENNIAL LANG NILA!..haha

but UAAP is still not finish... our archrival UP fighting maroons and FEU tamaraws is trying to get us the GENERAL CHAMPIONSHIP that UST is holding for ten years!
